About the preview

Previews use fixed pixel widths and browser-rendered text truncation. Character guidance (60 for titles and 160 for descriptions) is a writing aid, not a Google limit. Letter widths matter: “WWW” takes more room than “iii”. Mobile titles may wrap onto two lines.

Actual results vary with the device, font, query, and Google’s layout. Google may rewrite titles and descriptions. This is an approximation, not a guarantee of an identical search result. Google’s snippet guidance.

Why can a short title still be cut off?

Letters have different widths: WWW occupies more space than iii. Use the pixel-width feedback alongside the character count. Google may rewrite your title or description, so the previews are estimates rather than promised search appearances.
