File and splitting options

Plain-text log files, including .log and .txt. Up to 500 MB; large files depend on your device’s available memory.

Line splitting

This tool always splits by line, keeping each line together. Lines are distributed evenly between the output files.

All output files use UTF-8. Parts are balanced by line count, not byte size.

Privacy-first Files stay in your browser.

How to split a log file

  1. Select your log file and choose how many parts to create (2–1,000).
  2. Select the input encoding. Most modern log files use UTF-8.
  3. Click Split file, then download the ZIP containing all parts.

How lines are divided

Text, line order, and original line endings are preserved. Extra lines go into the earlier parts, so line counts differ by at most one. A final line ending does not add an extra empty line. Each part must contain at least one line.

For example, server.log becomes server_1.log, server_2.log, and so on inside server.zip. This tool splits physical lines; a multiline log entry or stack trace may span separate files. Files stay on your device.

Example: divide a large server log

A 10,000-line log split into four parts produces four 2,500-line files in their original order. Splitting does not group related events: a stack trace or other multiline entry may cross a file boundary.
